1937年、内戦の最中のスペインで、政府の軍事輸送を阻止するため、鉄橋の爆破計画が練られた。アメリカの大学教授ロバートは、ジプシーのゲリラに協力を求める。そこでロバートは、両親を殺されてゲリラに加わったスペインの娘マリアと恋に落ちてしまう。政府の軍事輸送を阻止する為、ゲリラ部隊と協力して橋を爆破するまでの3日間を描いた作品。
